When I make a selection of my photos I pick out the ones that appear staged and at the same time fixate their subjects
in the moment they seem to be ‘off-stage’. I’m often surprised by the absurd and manipulated look reality can have
and underline that by balancing my images as accurate as possible. I want to make the ordinary look extraordinary.

A lot of my work deals with the relations between humans and other species. I like to aim my camera at animals that
emphasize what we have in common. I find that dogs in particular link things up; they are toy versions of their wild
ancestors and at the same time enlarge human behaviour in a painfully accurate way. They are a perfect starting point
for stories about the human condition.

My photos can also function as raw material, as building stones for installations. I made some installations with images
from overrun animals, species that are literally squeezed by our lack of time and space. The flat animals are cruel
‘objets trouvées’, marking the place where man and beast have met. These installations are a way of paying my last
respects, or a clumsy attempt to bring them back to life.
